At Netflix, I use methods like causal inference, experimentation, and forecasting to make sense of complex systems and decisions. My research centers around the role schools play in strengthening democracy and preparing young people for civic life.

My dissertation, Active Civics: How Civic Education Shapes Political Engagement, received the E. E. Schattschneider Award for the best dissertation in American government. I’m now turning that research into a book, along with papers, talks, and essays on civic education and the future of democratic participation.
